This tutorial, presented by Daniel Howard of the CISL Consulting Services Group, will introduce new users to the Derecho high-performance computing system and the Casper cluster for data analysis, visualization, and machine learning. Topics to be covered include:

  • What HPC systems are available at NSF NCAR and how to access them
  • Basics of job submission in a batch computing environment
  • What data storage systems are available to users
  • What helpful resources are available

NSF NCAR/UCAR/UCP employees and SIParCS interns can attend in-person in the ML Main Seminar Room as space permits. All new users who are interested are welcome to attend remotely via Google Meet. A Google Meet link will be shared with registrants on 5/21/26.

The event will be recorded and published publicly for future reference.

Registration is due by the end of the business day of Wednesday, May 20.
