Community outreach

Community outreach takes many forms at CISL, which is uniquely positioned to teach the public about computational science and provide learning opportunities for all who are interested in high-performance computing (HPC) and cyberinfrastructure. Our educational and training efforts are designed to complement and supplement programs at universities and other centers.

We work toward our educational, research and training objectives through a variety of activities:

Internships focus on student teams while faculty training in HPC concepts broadens participation, promotes workforce development, and enhances diversity.

Our mentors and collaborators provide students and visitors with significant hands-on experience in HPC and related fields that use HPC for scientific discovery and modeling.

A vibrant visitor program and a robust portfolio of workshops foster scientific collaboration and advancement by bringing external researchers to NCAR to tackle cutting-edge problems.

Training programs designed for users of HPC systems, data analysis and visualization tools help students and faculty develop the skills they need to use advanced cyberinfrastructure effectively.

We invite you to explore our educational offerings, learn about our student and visitor experiences and contact us if you are interested in learning more about the resources we have to offer.
