Abstract
Each year, NSF NCAR supports more than 1,500 users across 500+ U.S. universities and research institutions with advanced computing resources, services, and expertise in support of Earth System Science (ESS). As part of its mission, NSF NCAR also provides free access to data services, community software tools, and other valuable resources to tens of thousands of researchers worldwide.
In response to the transformative potential of AI, NSF NCAR has recently developed a strategic roadmap to guide the integration of AI/ML in ESS. This initiative aims to democratize AI capabilities, foster cross-disciplinary collaboration, and accelerate scientific discovery within the ESS community.
Join us for a Town Hall where we will introduce the newly released roadmap and provide an overview of NCAR’s role in supporting a collaborative, inclusive, and forward-looking Community AI Ecosystem. The roadmap outlines scientific priorities for AI/ML in ESS and presents a vision for scaling adoption through advances in infrastructure, data systems, software tools, and workforce development. We will also showcase the latest advancements in NSF NCAR cyberinfrastructure. We will share key updates, future plans, and links to resources for deeper exploration, while also seeking valuable feedback from the community.
