The Email Query/Change utility, or EQC, allows you to access a directory of e-mail and phone number information for NCAR/UCAR. Each user who has an SCD login is in the directory. You can do queries (like look up a user's e-mail address) and you can make changes to your own information.

To use the EQC:

  • At your Unix system prompt, type:

    telnet directory.ucar.edu

  • At the login prompt, type:

    directory

You will then get a screen like this:

    +---------------------------------------------+
EMAIL User Query/Change Utility

          H) Help
          M) Modify User
          C) Change Gatekeeper Password
          S) Show User
          D) Delete User
          A) Add User
          G) Add User to Gatekeeper
          L) Login Name Check
          Q) Quit

    Enter choice:
    +---------------------------------------------+

  • Type the letter of the function you want.

For example, to look up someone's address, type "S" (Show User). To modify your own entry, type "M" (Modify User). You will then be prompted with additional menus.

It's good practice to keep your phone number and email address up-to-date. You can also specify a FAX number and a web home page as part of your directory information.

There's always another way

A web-based interface to the directory is also available.

This interface allows you to do queries, but not changes. It also has a link to the EQC interface described above.
