New CRAY J90 is on the way
By April 1998, SCD will acquire a 24-processor CRAY J90se vector computer dedicated to university and NCAR scientists.

The new machine will supplement paiute and ouray, the two J90s already in place, and will increase the General Accounting Unit (GAU) pool for community users by 50%. SCD anticipates that a good deal of standby time will initially be available.


HP SPP now available to users

The 64-processor Hewlett-Packard Exemplar SPP 2000 computer (sioux) is also now available to community users who have codes that can make good use of highly parallel distributed memory systems. There are no GAU charges for sioux.
