Call for participation:

Supercomputing '96 to highlight 'computers at work'

Supercomputing '96 (SC'96) will be held November 17-22, 1996, at the David Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. SC'96 is the ninth in a series of supercomputing conferences sponsored by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Computer Society.

The theme of this year's conference is "Computers at Work." Conference organizers are especially interested in presentations that survey state-of-the-art usage of computing in specific applications. Organizers are also interested in presentations that discuss which architectures best fit an application in the areas of sustained performance, cost/performance, and so forth.

Organizers are further interested in presentations that survey the use and impact of new computing technology and in presentations that survey the integration of a range of computing systems, such as laptops, SMPs, MPPs, supercomputers, and communications systems.

Contributions are invited in the following areas: technical papers, tutorials, education session, roundtables, panels, research exhibit, poster exhibit, SCInet'96 and the high-performance computing challenge.

Other components of SC'96 include industry exhibits, presentation of the Bell and Fernbach awards, invited presentations and panels, and recognition of the 50th anniversaries of the ACM and the IEEE Computer Society.
