NCAR research exhibit highlights climate systems modeling

The NCAR research exhibit at SC '95 focused on supercomputing technologies supporting large numerical simulations of the earth's climate systems. These technologies include high-speed networks, satellite communications, and distributed high-performance computing.

The exhibit showed four separate but interrelated research efforts under way at NCAR dedicated to understanding how components of the earth's climate systems interact:

• The Climate Simulation Laboratory (CSL)

• The Distributed Climate Simulation Laboratory (DCSL)

• The NSF/ARPA/NASA CO-OP 3D Project

• The MOZART 3D Global Chemistry Simulation
