Supercomputing 96Photographed, created, and produced a multimedia slide show/video on "The Making of Supercomputing '96," which premiered at the keynote session of SC '96 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The presentation featured images of the Executive Committee at work and shots of the convention floor being constructed up to the last minute. Here is an archive of some of the photos I took for the project.

Supercomputing '95 NCAR Research Exhibit. This exhibit, which premiered at the Supercomputing '95 conference in San Diego, highlighted supercomputing technologies used to support large numerical simulations of the earth's climate systems. The display I created focused on four NCAR research efforts: the Climate Simulation Lab, the Distributed Climate Simulation Lab, the 3-D Global Tropospheric Chemistry Model, and CO-OP 3-D Coupled Atmospheric and Hydrodynamic Models.

newsletter

SCD Computing News. Served as managing editor from 1991-1995 of SCD Computing News, SCD's journal of record. SCDCN provided news about NCAR's supercomputing facility and related conferences, information on hardware and software, and in-depth technical articles. It has been replaced by SCDzine.

web-image

SCD Information Resources Catalog. Co-authored this 1995 catalog, which was both a document index and a tutorial guide to online access methods. The 100-page hardcopy version provided step-by-step directions on how to use Internet information tools. The Web version was searchable by key word. The catalog won a Distinguished Award from the Society for Technical Communication.

cluster

Getting Started with the IBM RS/6000 Cluster." Produced this guide to the IBM Cluster, a network of high-speed workstations used by NCAR scientists for single-processor applications. The document provides information on interactive and batch access methods, job and queue status, Fortran compilers, math and statistical libraries, and Cray data conversions.
