SPHERE
SPHERE is the library name of the free SPHEREPACK package of Fortran
77 routines, developed at NCAR, for computing spherical harmonic analyses
and syntheses, which are useful in problem solving in spherical coordinates
in the same way that fast Fourier transforms are in Cartesian coordinates.
Examples of applications include: interpolating and smoothing on
the sphere, resolving accuracy and stability problems peculiar to
solving PDEs on the sphere, and computing differential expressions
at or near the poles.
Recommendation: Use SPHEREPACK for computing spherical harmonic analyses
and syntheses.

for a library overview plus usage instructions for each of SPHEREPACK's user
entries.

Source code: obtainable by following instructions in section "OBTAINING SPHEREPACK SOFTWARE" in the SPHEREPACK document cited immediately above. You are
required to fill out a web licensing-agreement to obtain the software.
-
NCAR users: the SPHEREPACK binary library is available to NCAR computer users,
for linking and running with Fortran programs, on some of SCD's compute-servers.
See table "SCD Computers, Products, and Libraries" for the names of those computers.
If you have questions about linking the binary library on these NCAR systems,
please see
"Linking SCD's Local Fortran Math Libraries".
