Telephone Service
CISL's Network Engineering and Telecommunications Section (NETS)
provides telephone service to all of UCAR based on the Voice over Internet
Protocol (VoIP). VoIP converts the human voice into digital
data that is transmitted over the Internet.
Users benefit from all the features of traditional phones
including caller ID display, speakerphone, voice messaging, speed
dialing, redial, conference calling, headset options, etc. In
addition, their telephones provide online directories, a calendar
function, local weather information, and customizable features
including ring tones, language, and speed dial buttons. The
Telephone and Voicemail Systems - User Information page provides
all currently available telephone options.
