Email Services
Virus and spam filtering is performed by the email relay cluster. Messages are scanned for viruses by two malware-detection programs, then user-requested spam filtering is done. Messages are then forwarded to the appropriate divisional mailbox server. High availability in the relay cluster and in the mailbox server is achieved through full redundancy in the hardware for both the servers and the disks. Services for users include IMAP, POP, and SMTP mail service, as well as advanced features like the Webmail e-mail client, remote-access capabilities, and server-side message filtering. A web interface allows users to change their personal email settings. In addition, CISL email services include LDAP searches for users and groups, a list server for mailing lists, autoresponders, local and UCAR-wide aliases, and undeliverable message handling. |
