June 13, 2006 Deadline approaches for ScicomP/SP-XXL meetingsDiscounted rate available to those who register before June 30
The early registration discount for ScicomP/SP-XXL ends on June 30, 2006. Those who register before June 30 will receive the discounted rate. NCAR's Scientific Computing Division (SCD) is hosting the 12th ScicomP meeting on July 18–21 and the summer meeting of SP-XXL on July 17–21. Visit the ScicomP12/SP-XXL Web site and be sure to review the: The ScicomP meeting series enables computational scientists and engineers to learn about tools and techniques for developing applications that achieve maximum performance and scalability on IBM systems. Technical presentations highlight recent results and advanced techniques, and they provide the kind of information, expertise, and experience that scientific and technical application developers need but cannot easily find elsewhere. NCAR will also host SP-XXL as a co-located meeting. The SP-XXL group is a membership-based organization with systems-oriented interests in large-scale scientific technical computing on IBM hardware. Members of SP-XXL work together to increase the capabilities of these machines and to provide guidance to IBM on essential development and support issues.
Dr. William Collins, a scientist in NCAR's Climate and Global Dynamics Division, will be the keynote speaker for the concurrent meetings. Collins, who studies atmospheric radiation, has developed one of the first techniques for integrating aerosol data into global climate models. ScicomP12/SP-XXL will feature a day of tutorials presented by IBM staff and others on topics relevant to user concerns. Students are welcome, both as regular attendees and tutorial-only registrants, at reduced rates. If you have questions or need more information, contact Susan Cross at
susanc@ucar.edu. The Scientific Computing Division (SCD) is part of the Computational and Information Systems Laboratory (CISL) of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder, Colorado. NCAR is operated by the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research under the primary sponsorship of the National Science Foundation. |
