"Bluevista is here"

Tom Engel, an SCD high-performance computing specialist, shakes hands with Tom Bettge, SCD deputy director, upon the recent acquisition of NCAR's newest supercomputer, “bluevista.”

The IBM POWER5 system is the last in a sequence of supercomputer systems and system upgrades acquired under the Advanced Research Computing System (ARCS) contract. The decision to bring in the IBM p5-575 cluster was made after consulting with NCAR scientists and management and with the SCD Advisory Panel.
