All NCAR supercomputers supported by SCD have been released for general use. For some third-party software installed on SCD systems, license management software has not yet been moved to a position within the new security perimeter where it can be accessed as needed. The tables below show the current availability of software on major SCD systems. SCD still has a limited number of CRYPTOCards that permit access to the SCD supercomputer perimeter via one-time passwords. We are contacting university project lead users and NCAR divisions on the allocation of CRYPTOCard for their projects. You will need your card each time you access our supercomputers. The use of one-time passwords means that even if your password is "sniffed" or compromised, it does not impact the security of the supercomputer, since that password can only be used one time. Once inside the perimeter, access to the supercomputers requires passwords as usual to gain access to each machine. All users, including university users, will need a gatekeeper password to enter the SCD supercomputer perimeter. SCD is in the process of updating its supercomputer documentation web pages to include these security changes. An announcement will appear in the Daily Bulletin when this has been accomplished. If you have questions, please contact Ginger Caldwell, manager of User Support (cal@ucar.edu, 303-497-1229). yes = currently available
