Passwords and accounts must not be shared

For security reasons

Computer keyboard

Users may not share passwords or accounts on NCAR/SCD computers. SCD insists on this policy for security reasons, and also because sharing makes it extremely difficult for SCD to contact the user when there are job or accounting problems.

This warning also includes batch jobs: you are not permitted to run jobs under any account other than your own. If you need to share files, please do so via proper UNIX group permissions. SCD's consultants can arrange these permissions. SCD reserves the right to disable accounts of users who share passwords or accounts.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact the SCD Consulting Office at consult1@ucar.edu (303-497-1278 weekdays 8–5 Mountain Time).
