Voluntary restrictions recommended for use of TotalView

Prevent system crashes or hanging sessions

TotalView

Until further notice, please do not run Totalview on the IBM SPs with codes that have been compiled with "-q64" or with environment variable setting OBJECT_MODE=64. Totalview run may crash the system with these codes.

Also at this time, please do not use MP_SHARED_MEMORY=yes when using Totalview to debug MPI codes compiled with the default 32-bit memory addressing on babyblue and blackforest. Otherwise, memory can easily be oversubscribed, which can result in the Totalview session hanging.

SCD software engineers are working to lift this voluntary restriction. Please stay tuned to the Daily Bulletin for further information.
