Eggs to go!

2001 Egg Drop competition between NCAR and local elementary schools is smashing success

by Lynda Lester

On 25 May 2001, canny staff members faced off cannier students in the fifteenth annual NCAR/Local Elementary School Egg Drop. Fifty egg-bearing devices were pitched off the A Tower of the Mesa Lab to see which entries, through savvy aerodynamic engineering, could beat gravity and bear their cargo unsplatted to safe landing. SCD's Brian Bevirt brought his eminent MC abilities to the event, titled "2001: A Space Odd-egg-sey," while SCD's Jennifer Griffin hurled eggs with style.
