Upgrade and testing of the IBM SP RS/6000 babyblue is complete; the system is now available to users.

Several pieces of babyblue's cluster environment software were upgraded in November 2000: PSSP was upgraded from 3.1.1 to 3.2; GPFS was upgraded from 1.2 to 1.3; LoadLeveler was upgraded from 2.1 to 2.2. The base AIX was not changed and remains at 4.3.3. In addition to the cluster software upgrades, a beta test version of the 64-bit MPI library was also installed. (The 32-bit MPI libraries are unchanged.)

If you are interested in using 64-bit MPI, the SCD consulting office can provide the information required. If you encounter any problems or have any questions regarding the upgrade, please contact SCD technical consulting at 303-497-1278, or consult1@ucar.edu.
