at NCAR

On 1 November 2000, SCD/NCAR released the Request for Proposal (RFP) for an new Advanced Research Computing System (ARCS) to be installed in the SCD machine room at NCAR. Included with the release of the RFP was the NCAR benchmark suite as well as all the documents that comprise the formal RFP. Access to the RFP document is contingent upon signing a nondisclosure agreement with UCAR. The complete RFP is available via a secure SCD website.

As part of the RFP process, vendors will meet on 6 December 2000 at NCAR to participate in a site visit of the physical plant (SCD's machine room) and will be permitted to ask questions regarding any aspect of the RFP. All questions will be answered and made available to all vendors, irrespective of their attendance at the site visit.

At this writing, responses to the RFP are due back at NCAR on 9 January 2001. Any questions about the RFP should be directed to Charlie Benmark (bbenmark@ucar.edu), UCAR Office of Contracts.
