      Construction to start on NCAR-Wyoming Supercomputing Center
      The National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and its managing organization, the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR), announced today that they will break ground on the construction of a supercomputing center at a ceremony on Tuesday, June 15, at 10:30 a.m.

It is also a forum for scientists to exchange ideas and share experiences about computing resources and applications.

      NCAR Adds Computing Resource to the TeraGrid
      NCAR's 2,048-processor BlueGene/L system (frost) is now available to researchers using the TeraGrid. The TeraGrid is the nation's most comprehensive and advanced infrastructure for open scientific research. Each year, frost will contribute up to 4.5 million processor-hours to the TeraGrid.

      On June 26, CISL removed the last frame of bluesky to make way for bluefire, the IBM POWER6 system scheduled to arrive in the second quarter of 2008. Bluesky served the NCAR and University communities and the Climate Simulation Laboratory for four years and four months.
