Current UCAR Site Wireless Coverage

Overview

NCAB has approved the installation of wireless into all UCAR office spaces. This will be a large undertaking, and as such does not have a fixed schedule. This page lists the areas in which office deployment is in progess, or has been completed. If an area is not listed, it does not have comprehensive coverage. However, it may have coverage as a result of the conference room deployment. The following pages provide maps showing where wireless coverage exists inside of the UCAR campus.

Coverage Map Guide

Excellent Area has excellent coverage for all uses.
Good Area has sufficient coverage which should work with almost all devices
Poor Area has poor coverage which may only be usable with some devices
Unknown Blank areas either have no signal or have not been checked. In the future areas with no signal will be marked.

Wireless signal strength is difficult to measure. The main reason for this is that there is significant variation in the sensitivity of different wireless cards. This is true even when comparing cards of the same model from the same manufacturer in some cases. As a result, you may find that the useful range of your card differs from the map.
