Defragment your Windows hard drive
To make room for a Linux partition, you want to defragment the
existing Windows 2000 partition. This moves all the existing
files to the front of the existing partition, to make it safe to
reduce the size of that partition. This will make room for a
Linux partition. To defragment in Windows 2000...
- double-click My Computer
- right click the
C: icon
- select Properties
- select Tools
- select Defragment Now
- select Defragment
- wait, like, an hour. While it's happening,
there is litle indication that something is
happening, other than the flashing disk drive light!
There is a growing "progress" blue bar in the lower
right corner, but it's not obvious. Thanks,
Microsoft!
