This is described at http://chandlerproject.org/pub/Product/GetStartedGuide/2-EmailAccounts.html#IncomingEmail I set up incoming and outgoing email. I set up email access to UCAR's IMAP server. Chandler eventually created the 3 Chandler folders nested under Inbox. I was able to send mail from Chandler. At first, I wasn't able to receive email. I had to delete the 3 Chandler folders using Mail, then recreate them with File->Accounts-> and click the Configure button in the Incoming>Mail account.
I created a Chandler Hub account. The username is "siemsen" and the password is the ski thing. I followed directions to export a .chex file and copy it to the other machine. WARNING: importing the file destroys all the settings, including email account settings. Now, when I do File->Sync->All on one machine and then File->Sync->All on the second machine, notes get sync'd through the Chandler Hub. Cool!
