Azureus is the BitTorrent client on the Mac. Use it to get the episode. Wait until it's done, then maybe use UnRarX to consolidate the pieces of the downloaded content into a single .avi file. I configured Azureus to move the file to /tmp after the downloading finishes, so that the files are outside my home directory so they don't get backed up and they don't get encrypted by FileVault.
(old notes, back when I used the HP desktop system at home). In April 2005, I needed to get a copy of an episode of the TV show called "The Office" for DeLynn. I called Manfred, who walked me through getting it via BitTorrent. I webb'd to http://bittorrent.com and downloaded the Windows client onto peteshome. Then I went to http://www.bftnet.net and downloaded the episode. I set up port forwarding for ports 6881-6889 in my home routers to allow outbound sharing, which sped up the download. The ~22 minutes of "The Office" took about 5 hours.
It was an "avi" file. When I tried to watch it with Windows Media Player I got an "error downloading codec" error message, and it played sound but no picture. I Google'd the error message learned that I needed to inspect the file to learn what codec was needed to play the video. To inspect the file, I downloaded the GSpot Codec Information Appliance. which told me I needed the Xvid codec. I Googled'd for it and downloaded it, and was able to watch the show.
