bash (Pete's notes)

After upgrading from Fedora Core 2 to Fedora Core 3, my keymaps changed a bit. Specifically, the ALT key stopped working. Instead of Meta, I now get funny characters in my bash/xterms. It could be that bash was upgraded to version 3, or that X or xterms were upgraded.

Some searching revealed that bash uses the GNU Readline library, and that you can tune it somewhat by putting commands in your ~/.inputrc file. Maybe I'll figure it out some day.
