kubuntu (Pete's notes)
Install kubuntu instead of ubuntu to get KDE instead of GNOME. I
installed ubuntu, then the kubuntu-desktop, then deleted various GNOME
stuff. Then I got GTK errors when I tried to run firefox, so I
assumed I'd removed the wrong GNOME stuff. So I installed kubuntu,
and still got the same errors in firefox. Sigh.
To set up system updates, use System->Adept. Enable the two
"universe" lines, and change "universe" to "universe multiverse". You
can do this from within the Adept GUI or you can just edit
/etc/apt/sources.list.
