Slashdot

On 01/24/01, I web'd to slashdot.org and created an "account". This just allows me to customize my Shashdot home page. The response web page said:

         User siemsen created.

         email=siemsen@ucar.edu
         user id=308965
         nick=siemsen
         passwd=mailed to siemsen@ucar.edu

The user account 'siemsen' on Slashdot has this email associated with it. A web user from 128.117.68.89 has just requested that password be sent. It is 'pMxyUGPB'. You can change it after you login at http://slashdot.org/users.pl.

If you didn't ask for this, don't get your panties all in a knot. You are seeing this message, not "them". So if you can't be trusted with your own password, we might have an issue, otherwise, you can just disregard this message.

So I went to the link and logged in. I clicked "preferences" and set the time format and time zone. Then I clicked on "Edit User Info" and changed my password. Then I logged back in and went to the "preferences" page again, and tuned to subjects to those that I'm interested in.
