Projector (Pete's notes)

These notes are Pete's cheat sheet about how to connect a Mac to the equipment in room ML-40, as of 2008-05-21.

To project what's on the Mac's screen (for a NETS training meeting)

In the cabinet, turn on the power strip
Plug the cable labelled "To Toshiba Projector" directly into the Mac.
Turn on the projector
On the Mac, do "Detect Displays"
Set "Mirroring on"
Set the resolution to 1024x768
Hit RGB on the projector's remote

To do slide presentations and video (for an FTC or FMC meeting)

In the cabinet, turn on the power strip
Plug the cable labelled "To Toshiba Projector" into the big end of the Video Concert box on the table.
Plug the Mac into the cable that goes into the small end of the the Video Concert box on the table.
Turn on the projector
On the Mac, do "Detect Displays"
Set "Mirroring on"
Set the resolution to 800x600, not stretched
Hit RGB on the projector's remote

When you want to display what's on the Mac screen, hit the Arrow button on the Video Concert box TWICE and hit RGB on the projector remote.

Then, when you want to project the people that are connected via videoconference, hit VIDEO on the projector remote and hit the square button on the Video Concert box on the table.

Other notes

Video from the PolyCom box in the cabinet goes to the projector over an S-video cable. That's what you get when you select VIDEO on the projector remote.
There's a stealth cable that goes from the Video Concert box to the PolyCom box in the cabinet. It feeds video from the Mac to remote people. That's what happens when you hit the arrow button on the Video Concert box twice.
