Telephone Deactivation Procedures

Version 1.0 - Mike Martinez

This process should be followed to deactivate any telephone, fax, or modem line before a wallplate is removed.
After confirming that the phone is forwarded
  1. Pull the cross-connect wires out of the switch output side of the 66 or 110 blocks in the D-mark (telecom closet)
NOTE: This step is important so the lines will not be shorted. If the lines are shorted the switch will disable the port.

  2. Trace the cross connect to the appropriate block checking to see that the PBX switch database matches the hardwire configuration.
NOTE: If the information differs at all, contact the PBX coordinator.

  3. Pull the remaining cross connect off of the destination block.

  4. Pull off any bridge clips that may be connecting a split 66 block together.

  5. Go to the station locations and disconnect the phones, faxes, and modems from the wallplate.
NOTE: Check that the style of phone is the same as the database specifies.
Also if there is misc. attachments on the phone leave these for the occupant
ie. Special headsets, stickers, numbers, post-its or anything else that may be have some importance to the end user.

  6. Deliver the phones to the telephone cleaning station in the low ceiling area so they may be cleaned and tested for later use.
NOTE: It is the installers responsibility to disassemble the phones cords, handsets etc. and put them in
Their respective place in the low ceiling area.
