SCD Portal accomplishments

During FY2003, the SCD Portal was launched to provide an easy-to-use web interface to SCD computing resources and information. The SCD Portal offers a "single sign-on" user-customizable access point allowing the user to choose only relevant information from the SCD website.

SCD Portal consists of two components: "Pages" and "Channels." Channels are visible active components in a page that can contain static web pages or entire applications. Pages are user-customizable windows that contain several channels.

During the past year, SCD has added a customizable page dedicated to GAU charging information. Community users may now view their 30 and 90-day GAU allocations, limits, and usage in a color-coded graphical format detailed by machine and individual user, as well as individual job accounting information.

This is an important step forward because it allows our community scientists to access GAU information, supercomputer, queue, and job statistics, and even open a shell on a supercomputer for minor text edits, from any computer with an internet connection.
