The following SCD staff were honored in 2003 for their exceptional achievement
in helping to further SCD's Mission.
User Support Section
Jeff Kuehn: For the design and implementation of the
autotester software framework.
Juli Rew: For extraordinary efforts in the electronic
delivery of UCAR Staff Notes.
Dan Anderson and Brian Bevirt: For providing
pertinent, usable, and readable documentation for users of NCAR's IBM
supercomputers.
Greg McArthur: For the creation of the exhibit "Directors
of SCD: Insight, Pragmatism, and Leadership."
Director's Office
Joan Fisher: For extraordinary service during the Mesa Lab Upgrade
and Refubishment project and backup administration support of SCD's Visualization
and Enabling Technologies Section.
High-Performance Systems Section
John Ellis: For leadership in the operating system upgrades
of the IBM bluesky and blackforest supercomputers.
Visualization and Enabling Technologies Section
Dave Brown: For his work as new chief architect of the NCAR
Command Language (NCL).
Network Engineering and Telecommunications Section
Jeff Custard, Fabian Guerrero, Del Harris, David Mitchell, Jim Van
Dyke: For the re-engineering and replacement of the entire Front
Range Gigapop physical and routing infrastructure.
Dave Mitchell: For development and implementation of special
wireless survey software that assists in planning and documenting wireless
Ethernet coverage throughout all UCAR facilities.
Data Support Section
Bob Dattore: For creating metadata to make the DSS datasets
part of the Community Data Portal, and for rescuing data from old tape
reels.
