SCD awards page
SCD staff periodically attain recognition for exceptional achievements both in the professional and personal arenas. Here are some of the awards won by SCD staff in 2001-2002.
UCAR Outstanding Accomplishment awards
 In December 2002, members of SCD's Network Engineering Technologies Section (NETS) received an Outstanding Accomplishment Award for Administrative Achievement from UCAR president Rick Anthes.
SCD Special Recognition awards
SCD Special Recognition Awards are given annually as part of the UCAR Employee Recognition process. The awards are designed to recognize single instances of extraordinary work performed by employees.

SCD Local Appreciation awards
 In December 2002, a collaborative team of five individuals from SCD and IBM was given a Local Appreciation Award for their exceptional work on the documentation for bluesky, the IBM SP cluster system. Photo and story
 In November 2002, Brian Bevirt, a writer/editor in SCD's Digital Information Group, accepted a Local Appreciation Award from Rachelle Daily for his work in support of the Computing in Atmospheric Sciences 2003 workshop. Photo and story
 Will Spangler, Cecelia Banner, and Doug Schuster of SCD's Data Support Section received Local Appreciation Awards in October 2002 for expediting an unprecedented office move. Photo and story
 Mary Haley, a software engineer in SCD's Visualization and Enabling Technologies Section (VETS), received a Local Appreciation Award in October 2002 from VETS manager Don Middleton and VETS assistant manager Tim Scheitlin. Photo and story
Gordon Bell Honorable Mention Award
 Rich Loft, Steve Thomas, and John Dennis, software engineers in SCD's Computational Science Section, took home $500 and honorable mention in the "Special" category of the IEEE/Gordon Bell Prize competition at SC '01. Photo and story
NCAR/UCAR Spring Fling Lip Synch Competition awards
 The SCD High-Performance Troupe earned Best Choreography and Best Costumes Awards in the 2001 Spring Fling Lip Synch Competition. Photos and story
