The five full-time SSG software engineers (and one student assistant) currently manage eight production clusters: two IBM POWER5, three IBM POWER4, two IBM Linux, and one Aspen Systems Linux. In total, there are over 400 nodes/operating system images, four different interconnect architectures, three different operating system types, and two different storage subsystems.

| Supercomputer services provided by SSG staff include: |
- installation
- certification
- configuration
- administration
- maintenance
- security
- training
|
- collaboration
- documentation
- performance tuning
- subsystem augmentation
- system software porting
- system tool development
- end-user tool development
