Purpose

To meet with Security Incident Response and Group teams. (Recruited for my sailing ability!)

Overview

This meeting was most helpful for face to face networking.

I attended 2 tutorials on Monday, Introduction to IU's Big Red PowerPC Cluster in the morning and Best Practices for Data Transport on the TeraGrid in the afternoon. The first was excellent with lots of information. The second was only 30 minutes because they couldn't get the demo's to work. There was some useful information presented.

The balance of the week I attended Invited Speaker talks and Technical track talks. I learned a lot about other institutions and their facilities which will be helpful.

Reference Materials / Recommendations

The TeraGrid web site has all the slides from the talks available as well as training materials, policies, and documents.

City / Accommodation Comments

Overall Madison is nice and easy to get a cab from the airport, and the University area is walkable when staying in the vicinity. The dorm was an experience unlike any I have had for several years. It was very clean and in close proximity to everything. They had a great workout facility and a very nice breakfast. No TV, only 1 towel, and no lamp in the room are the gotchas.
