Oracle continues to enrich features in their products. In Oracle 11g there is
enhancement for partitioning including interval, composite, and REF partitioning.
Partitions may be created automatically and indexes managed.
The import/export utilities are being replaced by the much richer "data pump" utilities.
Oracle is pushing SOA (service oriented architecture) using modular services
based on open standards to deploy on the internet. An SOA demo showed a rich
dashboard using AJAX technology and Oracle's Business Process Language. The Oracle
Business Intelligence tools include data integration from various sources,
dashboards, reporting, alerts and workflows, real time decisions. Reports
can be published to the dashboard using BI Publisher.
The demo using Oracle Application Express (previously HTMLDB) showed getting
data into a report on the fly asynchronously using javascript and AJAX"type ahead" technology. There are links to examples using AJAX with "HTMLDB_Get:

There is a push for Oracle customers to run their Oracle software on Linux.
Oracle has agreed to fix Linux bugs and share the info with RedHat. Larry
Ellison made the announcement and appeared on stage with several live penguins.
