iPhone Email Settings

The Apple iPhone can be configured to use CISL email servers without being connected to the UCAR wireless network. The settings below work regardless of what wireless network you are connected to and also work on the AT&T Edge network.

  1. Go to Settings: Mail: UCAR Account
  2. Set incoming mail server host name to mail.ucar.edu and provide your CISL mail server username and password. If you use a different mail server (i.e. you are not a CISL, SERE, or MMM employee) provide that mail server host name instead.
  3. Set outgoing mail server to ndir.ucar.edu and enter UCAS username and password
  4. Go to Advanced
  5. For incoming settings, turn on SSL, Authentication: password, port 993
  6. For outgoing settings, turn on SSL, Authentication: password, port 25

SSL Required
It is essential that you turn on SSL for both incoming and outgoing mail servers to make sure your password is encrypted. Otherwise, it will be passed in the clear over the public Internet. Providing your UCAS password over a non-encrypted connection is a violation of CSAC policy.
