During FY1999, the Scientific Computing Division completed all significant system upgrades and testing in preparation for the "Y2K Rollover" during FY1999. At the end of the fiscal year, all mission-critical systems (including the supercomputers, file- and email servers, and the NCAR Mass Storage System) had been tested and brought into "Y2K compliance."SCD has published its Year 2000 plans as a set of working documents. This set of documents was updated frequently as assessment, renovation, validation, and implementation activities proceeded. In addition, SCD maintained an inventory of systems it is responsible for administering and maintaining, along with their "state of readiness." This web page continues to be updated regularly as systems and their status change.
SCD has prepared its "Y2K Weekend" plans, as well, in preparation for handling any events, expected or unexpected, which may occur during and following that weekend.
