Overview of computing at NCAR -
Computer security enhancements

Last update: 07/24/2008

Due to increasing requirements for computer security, SCD is enhancing its protection for all systems at UCAR. This involves software upgrades on all computers, stricter password rules, and ongoing network changes. These changes make computing at NCAR less convenient for users. However, we are working hard to keep the supercomputing center's usability at the highest possible level without compromising security.

All changes affecting NCAR supercomputer users will continue to be announced in the Daily Bulletin.

Your passwords are a critical element in our computer security. SCD provides Password guidelines and instructions for changing passwords on SCD computers to help you keep your account and SCD's computers secure.
