The objectives for this workshop are to exchange information between weather and climate computing centers from around the globe, and to review and discuss advances in the rapidly changing computing technology landscape.

An international group of specialists from the atmospheric and related geosciences will gather to examine the role and utility of advanced technologies as centers move toward 100-teraflop computing capabilities. Topics of discussion will include:

  • Progress and plans from national weather, climate and research labs worldwide
  • Enabling technology updates (software frameworks, grid computing, portals, etc.)
  • Terascale data issues (storage management, visualization, availability, etc.)
