Forecast Verification of Wind Speeds Using a Modified Neighborhood Approach

Abstract: As power derived from renewable energy sources becomes more prevalent, the need to accurately predict the amount of wind available becomes more important. This project compares regional climate model output to an observational data set using a neighborhood technique that looks at the distribution of wind speeds for both the model and the observed data.
