Applying False Discover Rate (FDR) control in detecting future climate changes

Abstract: As a part of the NARCCAP, this study implements a False Discovery Rate (FDR) control approach (Benjamini and Heller, 2007) to detect future climate changes. Simulations on random fields indicate this approach is effective in eliminating incorrectly rejected null hypotheses. Applying FDR control on seasonal climate changes predicted by CRCM + CGCM3 suggests that future winter temperature increase extremely in the north (3-7° C), while summer temperature increase remarkably in the middle of North America (3-4° C).
