A flux-form version of the conservative semi-Lagrangian multi-tracer transport scheme (CSLAM)

Abstract: We present a flux-form modification of a semi-Lagrangian advection scheme that computes the flux of an advected quantity for use in a finite-volume method. The flux-form scheme adds little overhead compared to the semi-Lagrangian method, while also allowing the use of flux limiters to ensure monotonicity of the solution. Using flux limiting is seen to allow better accuracy and convergence rates than monotonicity-ensuring schemes available to semi-Lagrangian schemes, while being much more efficient.
