The Charlotte meeting

The primary order of business at the open meeting of the Performance and Evaluation SIC at the Fall 1996 CUG was to elect a deputy chair. Raghurama Reddy ((rreddy@psc.edu) of the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center was elected by vote of the committee on Monday, and ratified by the Board of Directors during the Friday meeting. Please join me in congratulating him.

In Charlotte, we also made arrangements to plan joint sessions with the Operating Systems SIC and the Software Tools SIC, organized around those topics where our interests overlap theirs. Our hope is that this will reduce the number of redundant presentations, as well as provide a focused venue for presentations of common interest.

Finally, as chair, I would like to again thank each of the authors who presented their work in Charlotte.

The San Jose meeting

The preparations are well under way and we have already received a bumper crop of abstracts in response to the call for papers. Make room in your calendar for this meeting and stay tuned for further program information.
