SIC/MIGs become SIGs!

rule

spiral In a meeting of the CUG Advisory Council at the San Jose Cray User Group conference, the Future of CUG (FOC) Committee proposed a change in the structure of Special Interest Committees and Mutual Interest Groups. The proposed reform suggested converting SICs and MIGs into Special Interest Groups, or SIGs. The FOC felt that this would permit more flexibility as the CUG organization evolves.

Following the San Jose conference, the Board of Directors approved the recommendation. During next year's CUG in Stuttgart, Germany, the board will vote on an official definition of a SIG. Until then, SIGs will operate under the CUG Handbook definition of a SIC.

The new equality between the former SIC/MIGs is reflected in the "SIG reports" in this section of CUG.log.
