. At the San Jose Cray meeting, the IRIX Special Interest Group made its first appearance at a Cray User Group conference. Attendees received information about the migration path to the Silicon Graphics/Cray Research Scalable Node architecture. They also took the opportunity to ask questions directly to the developers and engineers for the Origin and IRIX.

IRIX will progress to include many features already in existence on traditional Cray systems. Organizational details were provided for the new Cellular IRIX.

The open business meeting provided the opportunity for attendees to help set the direction of the IRIX SIG. There is a strong interest in tutorials and talks concerning the migration from existing Cray/UNICOS systems to SGI/Cray Research systems. Attendees expressed interest for these talks/tutorials to be given at the user as well as the administrator level.

The IRIX SIG is seeking volunteers for the organization. Any interested persons should contact me (cardo@nas.nasa.gov).
