In San Jose, the Applications and Algorithms Special Interest Group enjoyed nine high-quality
talks on interesting topics. Attendance at A&A technical sessions was high,
as large as 50 people for some talks--a breakthrough for a domestic CUG.
Thanks to all who contributed. In our business meeting, Silicon Graphics/Cray Research gave us a glimpse of the future direction of support for application developers. I hope that the discussions begun there will continue, and that CUG will continue to add constructive input to the evolution of the new company. The A&A SIG wishes to thank the local arrangements committee for excellent support and coordination. San Jose was a good host city, and the extracurricular activities were enjoyable. Now it's on to Stuttgart. Let's build on the momentum generated in San Jose to make the Stuttgart A&A SIG sessions the best ever. If you have ideas that may help us do a better job of keeping up with applications and algorithms issues on the huge variety of Cray Research platforms, please feel free to call me or Larry Eversole. Thanks for your participation. See you next spring! |
