Project Management
Allocations are made to the Principal Investigator for a CSL proposal. For each proposal, CISL uses a point-of-contact person, called the proposal manager. This may be the Principal Investigator, the requesting scientist, or a programmer on the project. Notices of computer changes, resource allocation changes, and computer utilization are directed to the proposal manager. SCD also solicits input from the proposal manager on proposed changes and their potential impact.
Each user is required to have a unique four-digit scientist number, which is assigned by CISL. A scientist number is validated for running jobs on one or more project numbers, as determined by the proposal manager. Scientist and project numbers must be assigned before any resources can be used.
Proposal managers may add new users to their projects. To do so, contact CISL Database Services by sending a request to: https://cislcustomersupport.ucar.edu/evj/ExtraView/ or by calling 303-497-1200.
For allocation questions, contact Ginger Caldwell by sending e-mail to cal@ucar.edu or by calling 303-497-1229.
Proposal managers facing a deadline may request expeditious service for very large simulations that require many CPU hours per day. Send e-mail to cal@ucar.edu or call Ginger Caldwell at 303-497-1229 to request permission to use this queue. You will be asked to fill out the Special Request Form.

Controlling
which project is charged
A primary default project number was assigned to you when you received your initial allocation. If your user number is valid on more than one project number, charges are directed to your primary project number unless you specifically redirect the charges to another of your valid projects.
Changing batch charges
You may change the account number you are charging in your batch script using one of the following directives:
LSF: #BSUB -P 12345678

The following limits will be enforced for CSL projects:
Limits on a 30-day basis: All jobs under a proposal will be run at a lower priority for the remainder of the calendar month if usage within the past 30 days by a proposal reaches 120% of it's allocation.
Limits on a 90-day basis: When usage during the previous 90 days reaches 105% of the proposal's 90 day allocation, then all jobs under that proposal will run at a lower priority. Jobs will automatically move up to the higher priority associated with the original queue when the proposal does not exceed the 30 day and 90 day limits.
